A full cPanel backup contains your website files, databases, email accounts, DNS settings and account configuration. It is useful before migrations, major updates or risky changes.
How to create a backup
- Log in to cPanel.
- Open Backup or Backup Wizard.
- Select Full Backup.
- Choose Home Directory as the destination unless instructed otherwise.
- Enter an email address if you want a completion notification.
- Start the backup generation.
Important notes
Full backups can be large. They may use significant disk space while being generated. If your account is nearly full, backup creation may fail.
Restoring backups
A full cPanel backup is normally restored by the hosting provider or server administrator. Individual files and databases may be restored separately depending on your backup system.
Best practice
Download important backups and keep offsite copies. A backup stored only on the same hosting account is not a full disaster recovery plan.
