Google Workspace MX records tell the internet to deliver your domain email to Google. Without correct MX records, Gmail for your domain will not receive email properly.
When MX records are needed
You need Google Workspace MX records when your business email is hosted by Google rather than cPanel, Microsoft 365 or another provider.
Common mistakes
- Leaving old cPanel MX records in place.
- Adding Google records to the wrong DNS provider.
- Changing nameservers and losing existing Google records.
- Mixing Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace MX records.
Website hosting is separate
Your website can remain hosted with GetHosting.online while email is delivered to Google Workspace. DNS simply needs to be configured correctly for both services.
Best practice
Before changing MX records, confirm where DNS is managed and take a copy of the existing DNS zone. This makes it easier to roll back if needed.
